Description

Visual is finally complete! :evillaugh:
Don't forget her brother and companion for the tournie, Myron!

Name: Lola
Alias/Nickname: Lo, or her name sign L(literally make an L shape with your thumb and index finger)
Age: 23 (ages similarly to a human)
Gender: Female
Species: Dogmen, personal made-up-beastie-folk. Kind of like a gnoll or werewolf, but less agressive and lack fur.
What was stolen: Deafness. She isn't thrilled about being able to hear.
Abilities: Nothing other-wordly or super natural.
Strengths:
Her race has a dangerously strong bite force, easily able to crush bones or snap a limb.
Strong arms and legs ideal for climbing, lifting, and dealing decent damage.
Fairly flexible.
When on all fours she can run above the speed of an average person/anthro, but not quite up to par with most of the animal kingdom. Somewhere between 20-25 mph.
Weaknesses:
Very sensitive to sound. Loud noises such as a simple yell or heavy object dropping to the floor frighten her, but may even cause pain.
Poor reflexes.
Low stamina, tires easily.
Arthritis, specifically in her hips and gradually developing in her hands. After even a minor amount of rigorous activity she's prone to painful flare-ups that may immobilize her for a time.
Height: Roughly 5'10"/178cm standing upright. About 7 feet nose to tail(long tail!)
Weight: 160 lbs / 73 kg
Personality: Generally good natured, friendly, and really terrible at catching sarcasm. She is uncomfortable about using her own voice, making her rather shy around others. She is rather quiet and withdrawn unless someone approaches her first.
Her voice has an off-tone to it for the first few words when she begins to speak, she hasn't learned to control the pitch and tone of her vocals yet. She is semi-fluent in english, usually her grammar will flip-flop between her native sign-language tendencies. ((She signs ASL: American Sign Language, because that's the only sign language I know!))
She has pride for (previously) being deaf, in the sense that she is capable of anything other 'normal' people can do despite not being able to hear. In her eyes it is not a handicap, but simply another way of life.
She doesn't *hate* the hearing or necessarily hearing herself, but rather that she's very overwhelmed by it. It's even likely she is just afraid of change. It's mostly a pride thing, probably. Maybe she'll open up to her new sense sometime, her curiousity can only be held off for so long~
History: Her entire immidiate family are deaf, both parents and her little brother. Her father was born deaf and her mother suffered from an infection as a child that damaged her ear drum. Lola and her brother were born deaf just like their father.
She and her brother were taught english, to read and write primarily. Her brother, Myron, found the idea of speaking vocally fascinating, while Lola prefered her native-tongue of signing. Despite their dispute, they were always very close and almost always at one anothers side.
While she has had rough experiences and prejudice about her lack of hearing, generally she was a happy person. She got along well with others, easily communicating through gesture, signing, or resorting to scribbling words down on a scrap of paper. She was raised to be proud of her deafness. She shared this pride with other deaf folk in her community. She was close to them, tight-knit, and apart of a special culture.
Then along comes the Thief...........
Other: Her people have some customs and traits worth mentioning.
They prefer to wear no clothing. Their nakedness isn't taboo or vulgar in their culture. However, they have clothing ready if they are expecting visitors or plan to go out where their nudity would cause a stir for others. They are modest folk at least, and do not intend on flashing everyone they pass by down the street.
Typically they greet by rubbing their noses against one another, or along their cheek. Much like eskimo kisses.
Apart from speech, their vocalizations include growls, barks, yelps, and howl-like calls.
They wiggle and wag their tail when excited about something. The fluffy end will puff up when they're startled. The tail is mostly used for balance and body language rather than combat or utility(grasping something).
Dogmen have accute hearing, therefore Lola's newfound sense is all the more overwhelming. She has made a habit of wearing ear-plugs in crowds, obviously dulling down her hearing. It's not the same as being deaf of course, she can still hear muffling. This is more of a comfort tool than anything else, the poor girl can get overwhelmed by a lot of noise at once.
They can stand upright and move on two legs very awkwardly. However, anything past a walk they tumble. Their anatomy calls for mobility on four legs, not two.
Likes: Expressive people, paintings/visual art, Myron, hugs, soft and fuzzy things, tea, signing/gesturing, soft and soothing voices...
Dislikes: Loud things, the opinion that deafness(or similar hinderinces) is a burden, having to speak aloud/the sound of her own voice, dry food...
