Okay, so weve named the Husky mix Jack, hes happy as can be. It appears that hes starting to realize his name, although sometimes I have to call his name a couple times before I get a response.
Hes been picking fights with my cat, Cocoa[lovable mass of fur]. He cornered her against a wall, began snapping and barking like a madman at her. It terrified my poor cat. Ive heard Huskies are known to EAT cats, although Jack doesnt seem interested in that, just harassing her. Ive been able to get them to go to sleep in the same room, or just lay down to where theyre calm, and know of one anothers presence. My father said theyve walked by one another down our hallway without causing a fuss as well. So progress IS being made.
Realize weve had this dog for a week now, so I do understand this may take time. Im asking for any tips, ideas, or techniques anyone
They may never get along and there really aren't any techniques that I know of that will make Cocoa love Jack. If anything? Give Cocoa places to escape too. Jack is being himself. "Oh! Something to chase!" You can try teaching HIM that chasing Cocoa is bad but he's...4. He's not a puppy x.x
Next time he corners her, see if you can call him away from her. If he comes to you, praise him for coming over. Positive reinforcement :3 If he comes to you then goes back to harassing Cocoa...then I'm not sure. Give her places to hide just in case Jack has one of his happy moments.
Or...you can consult someone else >.> Check else where too.

The heart bares memories through scratches, scars, and marks.
Either way, as BlackWolfDS says, give the kitty lots of places to hide out on Jack where Jack cannot get in.
However, I've worked in animal care and dogs can be trained whatever age they are. It doesn't matter the age. It matters how stubborn they are and how intelligent. Maybe see if you can find a trainer who has any ideas.
Also, get something for each animal to lie on. Maybe a towel or small blanket. Let them sleep on their own for a while, a couple days, then trade them off to each animal. That way they learn each other's scents.

Yeah, if the cat likes the dog or vis vrusa it just happens you can't force it. Take my cat for instence....she loved my dogs when she was a kitten, gave them baths, played with them, chased them, let them chase her, you know real friendly. Then she grew up and she only bathes, us or the dogs, before she desides to bite! OWCH!Or get you with her invisable front claws, or her very real back claws. my other cat is a very nicce out door cat, but my dad took one of the dogs through the gerudge once and the dog ended up with a face full of claw. Scared my dog bad, she jumped back and yelped, but besides that didn't attack the cat or the cat attack the dog.

It will take your pets time to get used to eachother.
Hell my chihuahua used to attack my cat back when he was alive. It took them 4 weeks to get use to eachother.
